Aalborg Workshop: Rapid Prototyping, Interaction Design, Interactive Art from Junk
illutron & GeekPhysical team up to bring an intense 3 day workshop to Aalborg University students.
Day 1: (with Vanessa Carpenter)
Introduction to the projects that illutron & GeekPhysical do
Rapid Prototyping: what is it, how do we use it - and creating a toothpaste squeezer design out of whatever is nearby.
Learning from the industry, how do design companies in the real world use rapid prototyping and different design methods.
Introduction to Arduino basics, electricity, and servo motors.
Day 2: (with Nikolaj "Dzl" Møbius and Christian Liljedahl)
Tearing apart scrap electronics, toys, and other junk 'goodies'.
Learning about components including motors, actuators, electrical parts and connections, and all the bits inside the junk.
Creative brainstorming - learn to be an artist, how to take an idea from one thought to become a meaningful interactive art project.
Evolving ideas, adapting to what's available and what's interesting.
Evening: 2 hour lecture on projects illutron and GeekPhysical have completed considering both engineering, inventing, and problem solving as well as artistic idea development, user experience, adaptation and evolution of project and emergent use qualities.
Day 3:(with Nikolaj "Dzl" Møbius and Christian Liljedahl)
Continuation of projects, technical support, conceptual development.
Preparation for exhibition in evening: documentation, setup, considerations of lighting and staging.
Public exhibition: show off projects, explain concepts, visitors play!
